Girls basketball defeated Covenant 24-14 on Monday afternoon to start their season off with a win. Allyson and Caryn both had great games. Allyson had 10 points, 3 steals, and 4 rebounds while Caryn had 9 points, 7 steals, and 3 rebounds. All of the girls team, Mara, Ciera, Jessica W., Jessica C., Casey (who had 5 points), Farrah, and Tiffany (who led the team in rebounds with 7) all had great games. Player of the game goes to two both Allyson and Caryn as they showed leadership and the skill needed to help the Rams to their first victory. Congratulations Lady Rams basketball!
Come next week Tuesday as both the boys and girls team play at 3:30 and 4:30 at Good Shepherd. It should be a tough game for both sides and both games promise to be entertaining as well.

Edit
I want to apologize for incorrectly posting the date of the girls first game. It will be Monday the 9th at 3:30 p.m. Check here after the game for the score and stats. Thanks.
Also, as we are currently playing lacrosse in P.E., if you would like to buy a lacrosse stick they can be purchased at Play it Again sports in Fort Myers. It certainly is not required but if you (the student) or your child show a lot of interest in the sport it might be fun for them to have a stick they can play with at home.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Updated schedule, Girls first game, and a new semester in P.E.
Welcome back from the holidays!!
A reminder that the girls first game will be this Friday against Covenant here at Good Shepherd. Your attendance would be hugely appreciated to cheer on the Rams as they look to start their season off on the right foot.
Also, starting this week in P.E. the students will be introduced to the great sport of lacrosse. Lacrosse is the first sport this semester and will be followed by other sports that are not as common to this area. In introducing the students to these sports they will become more knowledgeable in all sports and will help them in their overall athleticism.

Now for the updated basketball schedule. You will see a few changes so please take a close look at the schedule. The February 2nd game has been added while some others have been changed or cancelled due to the other school unfortunately not being able to field a team.

Boys basketball's first game
Unfortunately Boys basketball suffered defeat at the hands of Providence Christian today. While no one ever wants to lose the boys did show some positives and never gave up. Getting on the score sheet were Chris Barr with 8 pts., Kolby Mann with 4 pts., John with 2, and Ricky with 2. The boys will continue to improve and we look forward to better results as we continue the season after the break. Thanks.

Irish Guest Speaker
No, our guest speaker wasn't from Ireland rather he was a ex-Notre Dame Fighting Irish as well as an ex-NFL pro. In the NFL Devon McDonald played for the Indianapolis Colts and the Arizona Cardinals and he now lives in Indianapolis. Devon now travels around the whole country speaking to youth at public and private schools. We were privileged to have Devon speak to our 3rd-8th graders this past Thursday. He had a great message and afterwards he handed out autographed cards to all of the students who attended. Good Shepherd thanks Mr. McDonald for his time and we pray that God is with him as he speaks to other schools and reaches out to other students. Below are pictures from the chapel at which he spoke.
Mr. Mcdonald takes a picture and shares some words of encouragement for our fifth grade quarterback Brandon.

Reminders!!!!
Our first Boys Basketball game is tomorrow at Providence Christian at 4 p.m. Come support Rams basketball as we kick off our season with our exciting style of play and a consistent line up that consists of many 8th graders. Providence should prove to be tough competition and if you aren't able to make it to the game please check the website tomorrow night as it will be updated with the score, stats, and the player of the game. There are direction packets located in the office to all of our away games, so if you aren't sure where Providence is please pick one of these up.
Also, 4th-8th grade, don't forget that the basketball test and papers are due on Wednesday. This is an important part of your grade so make sure you turn in a paper and study for the test.
That is all for today. Tomorrow pictures will hopefully be posted of our guest speaker, ex-NFL pro Devon McDonald, this past Thursday when he spoke to our 3rd-8th graders.

Congratulations Volleyball and Football!

I would like to congratulate our middle school flag football team and volleyball team for their great seasons. Volleyball took home the championship at the conference tournament while football admirably only suffered a loss to FCI. Here are a few pictures from the tournament, enjoy! Also, an update already to the basketball schedule. The scheduled games against Covenant will be girls only matchups instead of including guys as well. Thanks and take time to leave a comment.
